The majority of dog breeds are known for their intelligence and empathy. Yago, the golden retriever, showed us how intelligent dogs are by taking things into his own paws when he rescued a bird from a pool.
This six-year-old golden retriever from Buenos Aires lives with his human mom, Mariana Corti. One day, Mariana was looking out the window, and she noticed a bird struggling and drowning in the pool in their backyard. Luckily for the bird, Yago saw it as well.
Like in a movie scene, Yago went to the pool, and his life-saving mission has begun. He bent over the edge of the pool to reach the bird, and that’s when the bird started flapping its wings violently.
Understandably, the bird probably thought that the dog was trying to catch it and kill it, and that’s why it went berserk trying to save itself from the “predator.” But, this gentle predator was only trying to help the poor bird.
Yago grabbed the bird with his mouth gently, pulled it out of the pool, and placed it safely onto the ground. Mariana recalled that she was pleased to see that Yago managed to achieve what he was trying to do.
Mariana said that once Yago placed the bird on the grass, he left it alone to dry and to go on its way. When the bird dried enough to fly, it flew away. The mission was a success!
Golden retrievers were bred by hunters to retrieve game birds for them. In this case, this dog used his instincts for a higher purpose. Mariana and her family were very proud of Yago’s empathy and selflessness.
The video went viral across the planet, and many dog owners were amazed by this incredible dog and his life-saving skills.
In this video, you’ll see how Yago saved the drowning bird from the pool.
