When we want to adopt pet dogs, we usually go to an animal rescue shelter and choose a dog that connects with our personality. We often go around the kennels to find the perfect dog, and we also spend time with the dogs that catch our attention to see if there’s a connection.
However, a couple named Garrett and Emily ended up adopting a dog by accident. Instead of finding a perfect dog, the dog found them. The couple didn’t have any plans on adopting a dog, but when they met Buddy, they knew that he was the dog for them.
It all started when the couple was on their way home from yoga class. When the couple opened the door to open the gate to their property, something jumped inside their truck. When the couple looked back inside their truck, they found a dog was sitting on the floor of the passenger side of their vehicle.
Because the dog was a pit bull, the couple was a little scared, and they assumed that the dog might be aggressive. However, the pit bull didn’t show any signs of aggression, and all it wanted to do was lie down on the passenger seat. It refused to get out of the couple’s truck no matter what the couple tried.
It took the couple about two hours to have the dog come out of the truck. The couple decided to call the dog, Buddy, and they let him inside their home. As soon as the dog found the couch, he went to lie down on it and slept.
Garrett and Emily decided to take Buddy to the vet the next day. They were wondering if Buddy belonged to a family. However, Emily was secretly hoping that no one would claim him because she wanted to adopt Buddy. It only took a day for Buddy to grow into the couple’s hearts. The couple knew that Buddy would be the perfect pet for their home.
When the couple found out that Buddy didn’t belong to anyone, they were very excited. Garrett and Emily were finally able to adopt Buddy. Although Garrett wasn’t personally looking for a dog to add to their household, he also fell in love with Buddy and thankful that Buddy found his way into their truck.
Three weeks after the couple officially adopted Buddy, he wandered outside to chase a small animal. He got lost, and the couple was devastated, especially Emily, who was crying everyday while she searched for Buddy. They searched all the animal shelters within the area where Buddy was last seen without any luck. Emily would go inside animal shelters holding a picture of Buddy with tears streaming down her face.
A few days after tirelessly looking for Buddy, a person from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter called them, informing them that they might have Buddy. Emily and Garrett didn’t waste any time going to the shelter to get Buddy. When Emily went to the kennel where Buddy was temporarily living, Buddy immediately recognized her and jumped up to greet her. For Emily and Garrett, it’s the most heartwarming reunion that they’ve ever experienced.
The couple wasn’t taking any more chances. After they got Buddy back, he was microchipped with all the information necessary that will help Buddy find his way home again. He was even equipped with a GPS device placed on his collar. Here’s a video showing how Buddy found his forever home.
