It’s no secret that dogs are just friendly creatures. It’s easy to think that this is true given our relationship with them, but humans aren’t the only friends that they have. You’ve probably read about dogs being friends with other animals like dolphins, ducks, and even cats. In this story, we focus on a dog and a pig who became best friends.
This dog and pig friendship, however, is not your typical farm story where different animals have to get along because they live together. The dog’s mom, Stacie Tonn, met the piglet by accident, and when we say “accident,” there really was an emergency situation that took place.
Stacie was driving her kids to school one morning. She was right behind this semi-trailer truck, which carried several pigs and piglets inside the cages. Unfortunately, one of the tiny piglets was able to slip out, and given that she was escaping from a moving vehicle, there was nowhere else to go, but the pavement.
She hit the ground hard and became unconscious. Luckily for her, Stacie is an animal lover, she turned her car around and rescued the piglet. Stacie called her husband, who is a veterinarian, and he asked his wife to bring the injured piglet over. When she got there, Stacie’s husband was a little skeptical about its chances of survival.
Miraculously, the pig whom they named, Mu Shu, woke up after 48 hours. Since then, she has befriended their Golden retriever, Hunter. The pup became the unofficial dad of Mu Shu. He watched over her all the time, cleaned her by licking her body, and led her around the vet’s office.
Now that Mu Shu is back on her feet, the two had become the best of friends. They spend every minute together, from eating, bathing, and napping. Since Mu Shu has grown up around Hunter, she started to behave like a dog, too. This was a little bit surprising, but it does make sense. See her playing like a dog in the video below.
